The 2008-2009 school year witnessed the Heartland Christian School Crusaders participate in the FHSAA class 1A section in Co-ed soccer and Girls Volleyball.  Our teams were very competitive this year and demonstrated amazing resiliency and spirit through teamwork and cooperation.  Our Girls Volleyball Team finished with a near .500 season, making tremendous strides that will be seen for years to come.  In fact, Coach Shannon Fassler was named by the News Sun as the Highlands County Coach of the Year among the 4 major competing schools (Sebring, Lake Placid, Avon Park and Heartland Christian).

Fo 2009-2010, Heartland Christian School is taking even bigger steps by reinventing its competitive sports program for all HCS students.  Starting  in the Fall of 2009, HCS will offer Girls Volleyball (FHSAA District competitive), Golf (FHSAA District competitive both boys and girls) and Cross Country (FHSAA Independent).  Winter sports offerings will include Boys Basketball (FHSAA Independent this year, district competitive again in 2010-2011!) and Girls Basketball (FHSAA Independent), and Boys and Girls Soccer (FHSAA Independent sports).  Spring sports will include Baseball and Tennis (FHSAA Independent sports).

HCS will continue to offer sports during each season of the year, with the goal of providing a 10-12 month, full fledged sports program that is fully district competitive (qualifying for state tournament play) by the 2011-2012 school year.  Contact AD Shannon Cleveland at hcs.athletics@yahoo.com with any questions!
