The Banquet
This semi-formal affair gives students the oportunity to demonstrate a lot of what they have learned in class such as: Introductions, conversational skills, public speaking, hosting, serving and table manners.
The guest list (of adults) plays an integral part in hosting the dinner, and in effect it creates the atmosphere. Who is invited? Parents, teachers, school board members, civic leaders, government officials, business owners, radio and newspaper personnel, pastors and doctors (to name a few).
Student responsibilities at the banquet include: Arriving early to set up food and drinks, greeting guests, serving punch and mingling, escorting guests to their tables (with gentlemen pulling out chairs), introducing the adults and guests at each table, reciting a Bible verse applicable to the occasion, offering thaks through prayer, inviting people to the buffet table and serving beverages, carrying on dinner conversation, clearing places when finished, dancing, serving coffee and dessert, and thanking guests and parents for making the evening possible
