Heartland Christian School was founded in 1990 and is currently a K3-12th grade school of 200 students. Accredited by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International), Entering into its 28th year of serving Highlands County and surrounding region, HCS is striving to provide the best education in a spiritually nurturing environment. What sets HCS apart? In partnership with your home and our local churches, here are a few items for your consideration:
- All teachers are degreed/certified by ACSI, which as an accrediting body is recognized by the state of FL, and a caring staff who is dedicated to seeing your child become everything they were meant to be
- Non-denominational, yet focused on proclaiming the truth about Jesus Christ
- Smaller class sizes allow for personalized student development and more individual instruction
- Course electives for students at various ages include Computer, PE, Art, Music, Yearbook, Etiquette training (an ACSI Star program), Foreign Languages and remedial-enhanced coursework helps where possible
- Assemblies that start all students every day as a family -- pledges to the flags (American and Christian), pledge to the Bible, devotions, announcements and prayer (and sometimes fun games to start he day also!)
- Competitive sports program -- HCS is a member of the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) with MS/HS sports offerings in Co-ed Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Basketball and Golf.
- Guidance counseling for our HS students; campus pastoral counseling available for all students; SAT testing for grades K-11th yearly to evaluate academic progress grade-by-grade
- Opportunities for Home School students to participate in academic (classes as needed and yearly SAT testing) and athletic seasonal team sports (eligible per FHSAA participation rules)
- School begins at 8 am daily, ending at 2:55 pm 4 days per week and at 1:55 pm on Wednesdays
- An atmosphere striving to build personal and relationships with each other while deepening family connections, focusing on student development through emphasizing that every student needs a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to discover life's ultimate purpose
